Nothing can beat the excitement of having a baby. But designing the nursery while the baby is on the way, comes a close second! So while you are in the last trimester of your pregnancy and are counting days till your due date, why not get the nursery ready? We have curated some superb ideas for you. You can use them to make the nursery one of your favorite places in the house!

Beyond Pink and Blue

A lot of pregnant moms today prefer a gender neutral nursery. For many parents, the gender of the baby is a surprise till the actual day. Also, if you are having twins, it could be a boy anda girl! So, it makes more sense to have a nursery which would work well for both genders. You can always add gender specific elements to the nursery as the baby grows.

For colors that work well and are currently in trend, think greys, yellows, or even whites! Get creative and add a pop of bright colors or use muted tones – it all depends on what you like. There are no right or wrong colors for a nursery. Take a look at the below designs for inspiration.

Storage space
If you are a first-time mom, having never experienced the bliss of maternity before, you are in for a surprise. Newborn babies, even though tiny, need an alarmingly large number of things. And as they grow, this number goes on increasing till your house is bursting at the seams with all the stuff the baby needs. Or, you can simply prepare for it by having lots of storage space in the nursery.

A place for moms too!
A nursery is for the baby, but the moms too spend a lot of time here. So while it is great to design it for the growing needs of the newborn, having a little space dedicated for the moms is a good idea.

This comfortable chair and ottoman near the crib are just perfect. Moms can put up their feet and relax while breastfeeding, or simply read a book while the baby naps.

This couch by the window is ideal for the moms to relax or even lie down as the baby takes short naps.

Or, how about a rocking chair to help put the baby to sleep in your arms on the nights when she is being especially difficult?

When the baby is on the move!
A newborn will spend more time in the crib or in the arms of the parents. But as she starts crawling and moving around, she will need more floor space to try out her new-found mobility. The answer is a nursery with ample space for exploring. Also, baby-proof the closets and drawers and any furniture that might be a potential hazard for the baby.

Build a nursery that grows with the baby
Unless you have the budget and time to upgrade the nursery every few months, having a nursery which can be easily modified with the growing baby is practical. You can also have some elements that the baby can use in the future.
nursery
A crib like this is practical since it can be adjusted according to the baby’s age, and then can be converted into a toddler bed when the baby is older.

This tent in the nursery might mean nothing to a newborn, but when she grows up a little, she will love having a cozy little place with her favorite stuffed toys.

nursery
It’s never too early to encourage the baby to read. Or, you could wait until she can really appreciate this library themed nursery.

Interesting for the baby too!
The baby has practically no say in the place that is being designed for her. How unfair! But, moms know the best and you can always incorporate interesting designs for the baby!

nursery
The baby is going to be on her back for the initial months. Why not make ‘staring up' at the ceiling interesting for her?

This jungle theme is fun and your baby will grow to love it!

Have fun designing the nursery!
Well, as you can see, the possibilities are endless. So go creative and create a space which you and your baby will cherish. And, remember to have fun doing it!
